Microdentistry
Microdentistry is also referred to as Minimally Invasive Dentistry (MID) and, colloquially, as “filling without drilling.” As the name suggests, microdentistry is concerned with making the smallest possible restorations and corrections to damaged teeth.

Detailed Description

The philosophy of microdentistry includes finding tooth decay as early as possible and treating the decay as soon as it’s detected. Microdentistry employs decay detection methods such as magnification, decay-detecting dyes, and laser cavity detectors. Since early detection is key, frequent visits to the dentist are necessary. However, patients will be relieved to learn that dentists who practice MID rely on conservative treatment options like air abrasion, Waterlase, and laser dentistry, tending to use the dental drill as a secondary tool, rather than as a primary one.
